The Easy Way For Personal Goal Setting

Personal goal setting is easy. But to follow through and get to where you want to be is often a challenge.

Why people don’t reach their personal goals

When setting a new goal, we have to be cautious. We easily get distracted and we also too easily lose focus of what we want to achieve.

When we fail to reach our personal goal, we are not short of excuses. Here are some very familiar ones (some of them you might know just too well).

  • I am too busy.
  • I am too tired.
  • I’ve tried, but it didn’t work out for me.

Setting a goal is like a change process. You will have to give up old habits for new ones. Or you will have to find extra time to start working on whatever your goal is. This means that you will have to leave your own comfort zone.

And if success doesn’t show up quickly, too many give up and return to where they don’t want to be.

The good thing is, that not many people are interested if you have reached your new personal goal or not.

But what about yourself. How does it feel, if you cannot achieve what you always wanted to have. Chances are high that you might become cynical, frustrated and bitter.

I don’t think, that this is what you want to be. So let’s do it better.

Personal Goal Setting Done Right

The Logical Approach

This is the foundation and must be done if you really want to succeed.

a. Know what you want. Make sure, that you are heading for a goal that you really want. Ask yourself: Why do I want to have …. (fill in your goal/goals) and come up with a minimum of 5 to 10 answers.

b. Start and take action. Research shows, that 98% of those who start working on a new goal within 72 hours, will succeed. So don’t sit around thinking and making plans: Just do it!

c. Control your actions. Keeping a journal is the best way of documenting your way to a new goal. Write down your achievements and also your problems. Always ask yourself: Do my actions take me closer to my goal? If not, ….

d. Find better actions to achieve your goal. As time changes or actions might have to change as well. Einstein once said: Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

This is the standard approach, that will work for most of us. This will need some discipline and concentration. However, this is a good plan.

Here comes the extra kick. Something that will make it easier for you to be committed and follow through on your goals – every day.

10 Minute For Personal Goal Setting

The Inner Approach

This is all about using the power of your subconscious mind to guide you towards your personal goal.

Close your eyes and relax. For the next 10 minutes see – behind closed eyes – how you achieve your goal. Create a real colorful movie, in which you are the director and the leading actor at the same time. See how your life will change by achieving your goal. How does it feel having achieved your goal?

Do this for 10 minutes.

How often? As from today on, do this exercise on every day for 10 minutes. This is the only condition for this technique to work. You have to this every day.

That’s it. It is that simple.

I wish you a great start into 2015 & lot’s of success
